Support for parents

Hi, my name is Jeanette Hallam and I am the SEMH Family Outreach Worker within the North Ashfield Partnership (NAP).

My role within the NAP is to help parents, schools and professionals explore and understand behaviour as a form of communication whether it happens at home, in school or within the community.

I’m always keen to help build a community of support around the children and families we support, to do this I can:

  • Support children, parents and schools within the TAC (Team Around the Child) meeting process.

  • Observe behaviour in the family home.

  • Offer advice and support to ensure that referrals are made to the relevant services.

  • Understand parenting styles and how they impact on our children regardless of need or behaviour.

  • Explore and understand a child’s emotional needs and how these needs impact on behaviour at home, in school and within the community.
  •
  • Offer parents the opportunity to access parenting programmes relevant to their own needs as well as their child’s emotional and developmental needs.

  • Support parental resilience by giving parents the opportunity to be heard – even when there may be no immediate answers.

Although the NAP team haven’t got any magic wands that will make everything better overnight, we are a curious team who believe that holding the child at the centre of everything we do, asking the right questions and listening to parents and professionals we can work together to build a bigger picture and understand the needs of the child in order to encourage change.

To access SEMH Outreach Support within the NAP referrals must be made by your child’s school.
